At CES 2025, OLEDWorks proudly celebrated a year of remarkable progress since the launch of Atala at CES 2024. Over the past year, Atala has redefined automotive lighting, and this year’s showcase highlighted just how far we have come in advancing safety, design, and functionality.

Transforming Automotive Lighting

This year, OLEDWorks continued to push the boundaries of innovation, unveiling advancements that highlight the full potential of Atala OLED technology. Among the key highlights are our most advanced bendable OLED panels to date.  These panels, with over 200 segments each, seamlessly integrate with vehicle curves, offering unparalleled design flexibility and enhanced V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication opportunities.  Additionally, bendable OLED panels provide a clearly defined vehicle width indication, enhancing safety by helping drivers and others on the road better judge a vehicle’s size and position, particularly in low visibility conditions like nighttime or heavy rain. For motorcycles and other two-wheeled vehicles, bendable OLED technology will provide a wider viewing angle, which will significantly reduce the risk of collisions caused by misjudgment.  Bendable OLED panels consume significantly less energy than traditional lighting systems, contributing to improved fuel efficiency and battery capacity.

Beyond functionality, these panels give automakers a competitive edge, allowing for customizable panel designs that create signature lighting experiences, enhance vehicle branding, and deliver dynamic animations, vibrant color options, and enhanced V2X communication capabilities. Together, these features ensure that both safety and innovation remain at the forefront of automotive lighting.

Digital OLED 2.0 Technology

In addition to our exciting CES presence, we proudly announced the continuation of our partnership with Audi as the official supplier of digital OLED rear lighting panels for the new Audi A5 and S5 models. Building on last year’s collaboration, these vehicles are equipped with our second-generation digital OLED 2.0 technology, which offers vehicle manufacturers up to 128 customizable light segments per panel. This cutting-edge functionality delivers precision lighting that not only enhances safety but also creates an elevated visual experience.

Our Atala by OLEDWorks booth became a standout destination at the show, featuring the Audi Q6 e-tron as the centerpiece. This state-of-the-art vehicle captured the attention of attendees, fellow exhibitors, and media alike, showcasing the groundbreaking advancements made possible through our innovative lighting technology.

Defining the Future

Taking innovation a step further, our CES exhibit introduced prototypes featuring nearly 600 segments per panel, setting new benchmarks in precision and dynamic symbology. These advanced panels demonstrate how OLEDWorks is shaping the future of automotive safety and communication with highly customizable lighting solutions that redefine what’s possible.

Since Atala’s debut at CES 2024, OLEDWorks has expanded the possibilities of what automotive lighting can achieve. From innovative bendable designs to advanced digital features, this year’s CES showcase reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and excellence. As we celebrate this year’s success, we are excited to continue driving the future of automotive lighting.

This is a fascinating leap for automotive lighting—turning headlights and taillights into a dynamic canvas for brand storytelling. The idea of using high-segmentation OLEDs for real-time V2X communication is particularly clever, though I wonder how much of that visual flair will actually survive mass-market cost constraints. For now, it’s a refreshing contrast to the usual quality reducer approach that many budget models still rely on.

The improved visibility, clearer vehicle width indication, and wider viewing angles for motorcycles could help reduce accidents, especially in challenging conditions such as rain or nighttime driving. I also appreciate the focus on energy efficiency, as lower power consumption can contribute to better vehicle performance and sustainability. Reading about these developments reminds me of the importance of adaptability and strategic innovation, qualities that I often associate with navigating challenges in Veck IO, where smart decisions and flexible approaches can lead to better outcomes.
